Darrel Cross

Division Chief / Fire Marshal, Noblesville Fire Department (Ret.)

A graduate of Taylor University, Darrel’s career has been marked by leadership, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to service. Darrel served as a member of the Tactical Rescue Team, HazMat Team, Code Enforcement, and the Investigations Team. He also made history as the first NFD firefighter to attend an entire recruit class alongside Fishers Fire. Darrel’s impact extended far beyond Noblesville. He has been an active member of the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana (FIAI) since 2013 and serves as the current president of the FIAI.

Darrel served on the 2012 Indiana Mechanical/Fuel Gas Code Update Committee and is currently a member of the 2024 Indiana Building Code Update Committee. In recognition of his work, Darrel was named 2012 FIAI Inspector of the Year. Darrel has earned an incredible 31 State of Indiana certifications. His professional credentials include Certified Fire Marshal (CFM), Certified Building Official (CBO), and Certified Fire Code Official (CFCO) through the International Code Council.
