Todd BuddAsst. Chief of Fire Prevention, Lafayette Fire Department
Assistant Chief Todd Budd is a 33-year veteran and currently leads the Fire Prevention and Investigation Division for the Lafayette Fire Department in Lafayette, Indiana. Throughout his career he has served in a wide range of operational and leadership roles and holds a degree in Public Safety Technology, multiple fire officer certifications, and technician-level qualifications across all special operations disciplines.
In addition to his work with Lafayette Fire Department, Todd serves as the curriculum coach for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector and Investigator certification programs, helping train the next generation of fire inspectors and investigators across the state.
Todd is known for his ability to bridge traditional fireground experience with modern fire behavior, helping firefighters and officers better understand the environments they face and make safer, more effective decisions on the fireground.
He is also a certified Brain Health Coach and a strong advocate for addressing mental health in the fire service, believing that strong leadership and strong brotherhood are critical to protecting the people who protect our communities.
