Ryan Wineinger

Asst. Section Chief - Code Enforcement, IDHS Office of the State Fire Marshal

Ryan’s career has evolved over time, beginning over 20 years ago as he entered the construction industry as an Architectural Drafter for a small design build contractor. He carried numerous responsibilities in relation to the multiple aspects of the many residential and light commercial projects he was involved in which allowed him to gain a broad range of construction knowledge. In 2008, he joined the fire service as a volunteer firefighter, and in 2014, he brought his passion for the construction industry and fire service together as he began his career with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office as a Code Official in Southern Indiana. He currently serves as an Assistance Section Chief of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s Code Enforcement section and leads a team of eight inspectors who serve Southeast Indiana and Marion County. In addition to his role within IDHS, he also serves as Fire Chief of the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, a role he has held since 2016. As a father of two daughters, one of his favorite aspects of the fire service is fire prevention and presenting to local schools. This ultimately carries over to his passion for quality school inspections as we work together to ensure we are providing the safest schools possible throughout all of Indiana.
