Walmart Remodel

    Greetings,

Last week while conducting the annual at Walmart I ran into an issue where during a recent remodel they decided to remove the fire rated doors, and replace them with  a plastic  non-rated door. Additionally, The horizontal Won Door in three different locations has been boxed in with  3/4  plywood from floor to top of pocket, then painted to match adjacent wall. This is a one-hour rated corridor and has been since the building was constructed in 2004.

The LS Plan for this remodel shows all four corridors as listed exits to meet the required distances.

I've spoke with the  Poettker Construction  who was responsible for the work and shared the notes attached to the CDR regarding required means of egress and remodels not putting the building into non-compliance.  They in return have  emailed the architect.   IDHS  was notified and  stated that the "boxing" of the Won Door  and removal of the fire doors brings the building into non-compliance.

I'm waiting for the architect to come back citing IFC 1014.2 Exception 2.

Thoughts and has anyone else ran into this issue?
