Bob Bennett

Structural Plans Review, Development and Inspections Division, Cobb County Community Development Agency

Bob has served in the fire service since 1974 completing 40 years of line experience and decades in fire prevention. Bob started as a firefighter paramedic rose through the ranks to serve 12 years as a battalion chief and fire chief retiring from suppression in 2014. Bob went on to serve as an inspector, fire protection engineer and captain/deputy fire marshal for Cobb County Georgia where he currently is the chief building plans examiner for the county.

Bob has completed the National Fire Academy EFO program and teaches at not only the National Fire Academy but he has provided classes at numerous state fire academies across the country.

Bob’s passion is prevention and plans review, before moving to the building department at Cobb County Bob was the plan review section manager for the Cobb County fire department where he supervised 6 fire protection engineers. He has been a guest presenter for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Atlanta chapter on several occasions and spearheaded the implementation of emergency responder radio communications in the metro Atlanta region.  Bob teaches non-structural plan review and has developed a 2 day class for the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana.
