The Valet Trash Collection non rule policy that we discussed last month has been published by the Register and is attached. This will officially go into effect 1/15/24 but should be enforced in the stated manner here on out unless or until it is modified. Please share with your teams to ensure we are adhering to this policy.

Not Greenway, but we also had to deal with those here, but in a non-sprinklered situation. We required them to provide either metal containers or plastic containers with lids and documented fire resistance. We also specified the cans had to be brought back into the apartment between pickup days.  Since it's a compromise that wasn't 100% code compliant, but allowing a valuable service, we put it in the form of a written agreement.

Then when new owners came in and created their own trash valet service we had the previous agreement to refer back to.

The original valet service was actually in the know and already had the resistant containers available when we made contact with them.

Yes - concierge trash service has become very popular in the past several years.  This may not be a popular opinion among fire service personnel, but I am OK with it, as long as it is a sprinkled building.  These are limited amounts of combustibles in the corridor for a limited amount of time.  I've heard the obstruction to exiting issue - these are typically 1 small bag of trash per apartment that should not impact anyone exiting.  If this prevents a trash build-up in the apartments, I believe these services are a good thing.

Is any department coming across Greenway Waste & Recycling company selling their service to apartment complexes to put their trash containers in the corridors every night to get emptied.   How are departments dealing with the complex management with this problem?
